2. Using the Simple Facebook Connect (SFC) WordPress plugin by Otto.

The first step is to go to your “Plugins” admin page in WordPress and click on the “Add New“ button.

Then search for “simple facebook connect” and press the “Search Plugins“ button. Click the “Install Now” link. You can also do manual installation via ftp. The plugin can also be downloaded from the WordPress plugins directory.

After installation there will be a lot of new “SFC blah blah blah” plugins in your plugins list. Look for “Simple Facebook Connect - Base” and activate it.

Then go to your WordPress admin “Settings > Simple Facebook Connect” to customize the plugin. This is where you will need to put your Facebook page’s information. SFC also offers various Facebook functions such as WordPress login using Facebook profile and page’s activity feeds. Most of this functions including the automatic Facebook Page update will require custom Facebook application which you have to create by yourself.

To create a Facebook application you need to go to this link: http://www.facebook.com/developers/createapp.php. After creating the App you will be displayed with your Apps information that will be needed by the plugin.

After you done setting up the base. Go to your “Plugins” page and activate the “SFC – Publish“.

Then go back to “Settings > Simple Facebook Connect“. Now you need to give permission for the newly created Apps to automatically access your Facebook data.

There are major differences between all 3 methods I’ve posted in this blog. I prefer this method because once somebody clicked on the Wall Post of the Facebook Page they will be redirected to your blog without any other medium in between. Give your opinion about this entry and share it with your friends.

To not making this entry too long I will write only the 1st suggestion here and the 2nd suggestion in the next entry.

1. Using Networked Blogs Application

Go to your Facebook page and click on the “Edit Page button” or the “Edit info” link.

Click on the “Apps” tab in the settings page and then click on the “Browse more applications” link.

Search for “Networkedblogs” and then open the application. Or just using this link.

On the Networked Blog’s page click on the “Add to my Page” link. A dialog box will appear for you to select the Facebook page you want to install the application.

After installation go to your Facebook page’s home (wall/info/etc.) and there will be a new “Blog” tab. Clicking on the tab will bring you to a page for you to customize and add your blog information into the application.

Finish the setup and try posting a test post. That is how the post will look like on the wall of those who Liked your page.

The screenshot below is an example how the “Blog” page will look like after you are done with the setup.

Yahoo! has announced they will kill MyBlogLog on 24 May 2011. Check your Yahoo! Mail to make sure I’m not kidding. The service started as an independent website since 2005 allowing people to add their blogs and create communities gathering people of similar interest. MyBlogLog is a good service helping people to promote their blogs while also collecting traffic detail for benefits of blog owners. I started using the service about 2 years ago therefore I don’t know if the paid Premium service was offered since the start or just when Yahoo! bought MyBlogLog around January 2007.

Today I checked my Yahoo! Mail and was so surprised with the confimation notice that MyBlogLog will be discontinued on 24 May 2011.

Here’s the copy of the notice:

Dear MyBlogLog Customer,

You have been identified as a customer of Yahoo! MyBlogLog. We will officially discontinue Yahoo! MyBlogLog effective May 24, 2011. Your agreement with Yahoo!, to the extent that it applies to the Yahoo! MyBlogLog, will terminate on May 24, 2011.

Yahoo! also suggest we try Yahoo! Pulse as a service for social update but nothing will replace the benefit of MyBlogLog that everybody loved. It is rumored previously that Yahoo! will also shut down Del.icio.us, AltaVista, Yahoo Bookmarks, and Picks but I don’t have any proof of confirmation to share with you.. yet.

I just stumbled upon a website by a Malaysian photographer Ameer or his nickname is Momoc containing his amazing collection of HDR photography. The photos were taken around the central region of Malaysia and would be a nice stuff to show some part of the country to the world. I believe the photographer is doing his best to include all part of Malaysia into his collection.

I present here a simple tutorial on how to import your blog rss feed automatically when you update your blog.

1. Go to your Facebook Page and click on the Edit Page link right below your page profile picture.

2. In the Admin Page, edit setting for Notes.

3. Next you’ll come to a page containing all previous notes for the page. On the right corner will be a link for you to import a blog.

4. After a click on the Import a blog link you’ll be redirected to a page where you can enter your blog address. Fill in the address of the blog you want to import and click on the Start Importing button.

The process is completed and your Facebook page will automatically display articles from the blog you had imported every time you have and update.

1. Log in to your Facebook account and after you have logged in, type facebook.com/username in your browser’s address bar. You will be directed to the page to customize the URL.
2. The page will automatically show your Facebook profile URL (your username) and the link for you to customize your fan page URL.
3. After you click on the Set a username for your Pages a drop down menu will appear showing all your fan pages.
4. Select one of your fan pages and a box (Enter desired username) will appear next to the page name. *Note that this option will only available if your fan page has more than 25 fans.
5. Enter your desired username for the page and check the availability. This action can be done only once so choose your username (URL) very carefully.
6. When everything is done your page URL should look like this: facebook.com/yoururl.

Notebook

You might notice that most of the notebooks in the market are quite dull with blank pages or lines which is the most practical for all users. There are some notebooks with background images on every pages but most probably with pictures of Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse and would not really suit you because you are not a kid anymore. So how to have an interesting notebook that suit your style? The answer is to make it by yourself. You can customize everything and then all your friends will ask where do you get that nice notebook.

Here’s how to do it:

• Start your Microsoft Word and a blank page is created automatically.

• A notebook is usually smaller in size so you would want to change the size to A5 or any other size that you want. Click on the Page Layout > Size > A5.

• Next is to make the cover page and the back page. I’m going to make a cover page with background image and some texts. If you want to be very artistic you can customize the cover page using Photoshop or other graphic software. To do add background image you can select Page Layout > Page Color > Fill Effects and then select the Picture tab. This method however only suitable if the picture you want to insert have the same dimension as your paper. If your image is larger or smaller than the paper size you can use Watermark. Select Page Layout > Watermark > Custom Watermark. In the Watermark pop-up box select the Picture Watermark button and then select your picture. Then adjust the scale to fit the size you wanted. Deselect the Washout button if you want your picture to be at full opacity. Note that using the Watermark tool will make all your pages to have the same background image. You’ll need to create a new document if you want different image for your back cover.

• Next step is to add some texts to the cover page. Create a Text Box (Insert > Text Box > Draw Text Box) anywhere you want to place the text and then type onto it. Use the WordArt tool to customize the appearance of the text (Insert > WordArt). Remove the fill and stroke for the Text Box to make it invisible.

• Once you done with the cover page it’s time to customize the inner pages. Create a new document with the same A5 size. Add background image using the same method as before but I would prefer to check the Washout button to dim the image so that it will not interfere with any writings on it.

• Some people would prefer notebooks with lines so here is the trick to add lines to your paper. In Microsoft Word 2007 the insert horizontal line function is hidden in the Page Border properties box. Select Page Layout > Page Border. When the Page Border properties box has appeared, click on the Horizontal Line button at the bottom left corner of the box. Then Horizontal Line box will appear and select the most basic line and press OK.

• When the horizontal line is already on the page, double-click on it to change its color or other setting. Then you can just Copy and Paste the lines to fill the rest of the page. If you have an A4 size printer you might want to create another page so that it will be easier for your to print the document.

• When all done you can print the document by yourself or go to a printing shop to print the cover page on thicker paper and add plastic front and back cover.

• Bind them together with ring binder and you’ll have your own custom notebook.
