Lately I found a lot of people using boobs for advertisement in the social networking sites. Usually these kind of promotions were only involved porn sites but now even internet marketing programs are involved. There are now a lot of pretty girls profiles that were made to promote their referral links. Profiles with such beautiful and sexy pictures will attract maybe about 200 visitors per day for free. Who would not want that? I assume the number because a beautiful friend of mine did tell me that she gets about 100 friend requests per day.

This also shows how lucky women are if they want to be successful with internet because they got the natural attractions required to attract people. Don’t just assume the visitors are just males because women love beautiful things and they’ll stop by to say “Hey, yours are nice. How ’bout some tips?”. I don’t know what are the real words they’ll use but it might sounds similar. Not to mention the number of lesbians are also increasing which also help to boost more female visitors. If I put my half naked picture, I’m afraid most of the visitors are also males.

Somehow I wonder about the effectiveness of such campaigns. Are those social networking profiles real? How about the ethics of doing such things? Those sexy pictures might be the real pictures of the user but they can also be fakes. Any guy can steal some pretty pictures and disguise as a female. I also wonder will the profiles generate good lead to their referral links. For those whose involved in internet marketing or those who are web savvy, they might notice the links will lead to a promotional website.

I had tried Google Adwords PPC to promote a referral links and already wasted about RM100 there. I signed up for Adwords after receiving the voucher link worth RM100 so the total amount that I spend was RM200. The PPC does generate good clicks and leads but the sign-ups were not satisfying. I’m not saying PPC advertising is bad but maybe I did not reach my potential customers. By the way, using pretty and sexy pictures are free and will also bring good visits. So how about giving some opinions in the comment box.

Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is one of the commonly used internet advertising methods. Advertisement (ads) are displayed based on contextual keywords or geographical location depending on the configuration of the advertisers. Advertising networks allow advertisers to customize their ads with specific keywords for the websites or products they want to advertise. The keywords and location setting allow an ads to appear on a page or search results depending on what customers are searching for in the search engines, what they are reading, or their location. Most PPC advertising networks let advertisers to specify their specific cost-per-click (CPC) for every ads and also their daily budget. If the daily budget has been reached, no more ads from the advertiser will appear until the next day. Since there are so many competition in the PPC advertising especially for popular keywords, a lot of advertising networks implies Click Bidding where the highest CPC bid for a keyword will have the top position on the advertising space. This is the major problem for small advertisers that have small budget where they have to compete with large corporations with unlimited amount of budget. Keywords research is very important in PPC advertising to avoid large competition that will sink low budget ads. PPC advertising is an investment therefore it is very important to convert traffic from the ads into profit. The best practice is to have a presentable website contents and layout that will lure visitors to buy products or make any profitable actions before starting to invest on the PPC ads. Listed here are some of the commonly used PPC advertising networks:

Google AdWords

Google AdWords

AdWords is Google’s advertising program that offers PPC advertising and self-targeted advertising for both text and banner ads. The ads are shown on all Google’s search engines including the country localized Google Homepage (eg. google.com.sg), on the Google Custom Search offered to individual user as site add-on, and Google’s partner networks such as AOL Search, Netscape and Ask.com. Integration with AdSense (Google’s service for publishers) allow the ads to be shown on any publishers’ page that have registered with AdSense such as websites, blogs, or bulletin boards. The ads are keywords based and will appear depending on users’ search terms or page keywords and the demographical target of the advertiser.

Yahoo! Search Marketing

Yahoo! Search Marketing

Launched as Overture, it is the first service to offer search engine ads placement to advertisers. The service was renamed to Yahoo! Search Marketing after Yahoo! acquired the service in 2003. The ads format are similar to Google AdWords with keywords based PPC advertising and self-targeted ads. The ads will appear on all Yahoo! search results and search partners such as AltaVista.com, and Alltheweb.com. Some Overture/Yahoo! ads are still appearing on Microsoft’s Live Search and MSN even though they are now have their own advertising network. Yahoo! Search Marketing is currently the main contender to Google AdWords since users are moving to Yahoo because of the high and congested competition in Google AdWords for most keywords.

Homepage: http://sem.smallbusiness.yahoo.com/searchenginemarketing/

Microsoft adCenter

Microsoft adCenter

Microsoft adCenter is the division of the Microsoft Network (MSN) responsible for MSN’s advertising services. Microsoft adCenter provides pay per click advertisements. Formerly MSN displays Overture (then Yahoo!) ads and only collect revenue for placing the ads on the search page. Even though starting as late as the end of 2006 and still in development process, it is now a competitor to both Google AdWords and Yahoo! Search Marketing due to the popularity of the MSN and Live Search websites.

Homepage: https://adcenter.microsoft.com/

Bidvertiser

Bidvertiser

Bidvertiser is another keyword based PPC advertising network. The service include ads targeting to specific category and geographical target. Bidvertiser is site-targeted advertising service and is not linked to any search engines therefore the ads are shown on publishers’ sites that have registered with Bidvertiser. The ads really depends on how many publishers are displaying the ads but the advantage is Bidvertiser offers lower CPC price compared to the big players such as Google or Yahoo!. This allow beginners to start with low budget to try how the PPC advertising works for them. Other than regular websites and products advertising, Bidvertiser offers advertising solution for eBay sellers which some service might have disallowed.

AdBrite

AdBrite

AdBrite is a popular PPC advertising network such as Google AdWords. The difference is it does not shows the ads on any search engines results. The ads placement depends on the large publisher network that have registered with the service. Other than PPC ads, AdBrite offers other advertising methods such as cost-per-action (CPA), or cost-per-1000 impression (CPM). This feature allow advertisers to varies their advertising methods depending on their products, target audience, and budget.

Homepage: http://www.adbrite.com/

Ask.com Sponsored Listing

Ask.com SponsoredListing

Ask.com had also launched its own sponsored listing or search engine advertising like Google AdWords and Yahoo! Search Marketing. The sponsored listing will appear on the same page as the search results and the appearing ads depends on the search terms and geograpical location of the users. However, in most countries outside the US, the sponsored search results being displayed are mostly Google’s probably because there not so many advertisers are using the service to target other location. This is an advantage to new advertisers but the challenge is to persuade users in specific countries or location to use Ask.com.

If you use any website analytic tools, you’ll notice that there are so many visits from search engines with high bounce rate. The high bounce rate is because people leave your site right away when you don’t have what they are looking for by clicking the “Back” button. Then there’s a question: “Can we take advantage of this situation?”. Finally ExitJunction.com tries to give an answer to that question by allowing publishers to earn from the exit traffic. This is a very smart action because we can take advantage from those who don’t actually want to visit our sites or read our contents. It is an effortless way to make some earning. The more people found your site from the search engines the more you’ll earn from the exit traffic.

After joining the program, you’ll be asked to insert a code into your sites’ pages. This code will detect the origin of your visitors and whenever they press the “Back” button to exit your sites, they will be brought to a new page containing terms related to their search and advertisements that you will earn when clicked. The function is simple and it is not intrusive, no pop-up or pop-under ads, and will not change the way you want your sites to be. All those advertisements are shown outside of your site and only when people leave your sites.

ExitJunction program works with any publishers around the world and with any kind of website or blogs. You don’t have to wonder if your websites categories are eligible because they are in most cases. Those with pornography, racism, or violence agenda will have to ask ExitJunction if they’ll allow your contents or not. Added to the best is you can always refer new publishers and earn 10% of their earnings for life. Always pray your referrals and their sites live longer so that you can earn more.

Thank you Google for the ‘Duit Raya’. It was just a week after the Eidul Fitri, Muslim celebration after the fasting month of Ramadhan. In my country there has became a custom to give money to children or to anybody if you can afford. The money are called ‘Duit Raya’ because are given to children who visit you during the celebration. I had just received my Adsense payment paid using the Western Union Money Transfer service. The payment was made last week but I didn’t realize until I checked my Adsense account yesterday. I thought the payment shall be made after the last day of the month as shown in the payment schedule.

By using Western Union, Adsense earnings can be received a day after the payment was made. However, there are limitations to the maximum amount can be transferred using the Western Union service depending on location. The service is also not available in all country. If the payment exceed the maximum amount, payout shall be made by regular or secure checks. Checks have no payout limit but will take a while to reach you and also some more time to cash out.

My payout was just above the minimum threshold but it is okay because this is my first time. The earning are mostly from my other blog because this blog traffic is still not satisfying after i changed the address. Semester break is coming in a month and I shall do more effort to improve this and my other blog and at the same time to increase my Adsense earning.

Bidvertiser is an internet advertising company offering site-targeted pay-per-click (PPC) text ads and image ads. The company was launched in 2003 by Bpath after noticing the disadvantage of automated system of Google Adsense and Overture (now Yahoo! Search Marketing). The automated system allows ads to appear on a page based on configurations of advertisers and publishers such as keywords, geographical locations, and ads category. With automated system, chances of relevant ads to appear are high but limiting the control of the ads quality, pricing, and timing. Bidvertiser gives advertisers opportunity to have complete control of their ads by allowing them to place ads directly on website categories of their choice and pay only when a visitor clicks on their ads. Instead of just focusing on advertisers, Bidvertiser allow website owners or publishers to sell their ads space automatically to the highest bidder. The ads price is mostly affected by the quality and popularity of their website and earned on a price-per-click basis.

For Advertisers

Any individual or companies who are interested to advertise products or websites can sign up as advertisers with Bidvertiser. EBay sellers can also advertise their listings or eBay Stores using the same features as regular advertisers. Targeted pay per click advertising allows advertisers to choose specific categories of websites for their ads to appear. Every category is listed with the number of websites available for advertising in that category. With this specific selection feature, advertisers will know exactly where their visitors are coming from. The ads are pay-per-click (PPC) model which means that they are charged only when they are clicked with options for advertisers to select the amount they are willing to pay for each click. Advertisers can choose different cost-per-click of an ad for each category they want to advertise in based on competitions in each categories. Advertisers can also choose to display advertisement only in specific countries by using the geographic targeting option. The Advertiser Center can show the performance of an advertisement with reports such as page impressions, total clicks for each ads, click-through rate (CTR), and the total amount that have been spent for the advertisement. Performance Tracker can view how many clicks are converting to sales, lead, or signups on the advertiser’s page so that analysis can be made on how effectiveness and return-on-investment (ROI) for the advertisement.

For Publishers

Publishers or website owners participating with Bidvertiser will be paid for every clicks on ads displayed on their websites. Publishers will have to categorize their websites so that ads that will appear on their sites are in the same categories. Bidvertiser is a good alternative contextual ad because it offers minimum payment as low as USD10 through PayPal or USD50 by check. Since advertisers bid for best ads placement, you can check the highest bidder for your website categories with the Bidvertiser Center feature. The ads management systems are really nice and organize allowing old or unused ads to be deleted. Publishers also have the option to view every advertiser’s websites and image ads and decline any ads that are not suitable to or not in the interest of the publishers. With detailed report for each ad such as clicks, click-through rate, impressions, and earnings, publishers can monitor performance of every ad and make changes whenever they want to. Other best thing is publishers can view the highest bid from every advertisers of same category that are possible to appear on their blogs.

Referral

A referral program is also available for users to refer both advertiser and publisher. Comparing to other common advertising network, most of them do not offer any referral or affiliate program that allow you to earn from referrals’ earnings. With the referral programs, participants will be paid everytime a referred advertiser spends on advertising or when a referred publisher earned from advertisement.

Critisism

Besides the various advantages provided by the company, there were claims that Bidvertiser is not suitable for some blog or website categories. This is because there are still low number of advertisers participated in such categories therefore limiting the ad impressions from low to none. Another problem is that the service is not widely used and is still not suitable to be used in some countries. Most reviews in the internet would say the service is not as good as other advertising network but there are those who believed that Bidvertiser is a good advertising network. Some bloggers claimed that Bidvertiser can give more revenue than AdSense for internet marketing or ‘make money online’ blogs while other bloggers said that Bidvertiser only works with websites or blogs with good traffic. I’ve tried the service on a new blog and the result is not satisfying since the blog still have very low traffic and Bidvertiser only pay for clicks on the ads and not for impressions. It is probably true that ‘make money online’ blogs can make more with Bidvertiser because when I tried the service, large percentage of the advertisement are related to the ‘make money online’ category eventhough I signed up in different category.

I still found somewhere “What.. you make money from blogging?” or “Is it true that I can make money from my blog?”. I’ve seen a lot of personal blogs which some of them have high traffic and pagerank but no advertising or maybe just one advertisement. There are people who intentionally don’t want to monetize their blog because they are the real bloggers. They blog for fun or to express themselves and nothing else. But who would turn down a change to generate some revenue from something you love to do without so much effort. Some advertising companies will make offer to advertise in our blogs when they found out that our blog have many unique visitors per day but it might take a very long time for that offer to come. For those who don’t get the offer, some of them might never know that they can generate some cash by writing their blogs. What I’m going to do here is to explain some term in advertising that we should know and list some advertising services that can easily help you make money from blogging.

Important Terms You Should Know:

Publishers – Blog owners that want to put ads in their blogs are called publishers because they are the one that publish the blog.

Advertisers – Any party who want to advertise their products, website, blogs, etc. through advertising networks.

Cost Per Click (CPC) – The cost paid by advertiser to ads networks for every click on their advertisement.

Pay Per Click (PPC) – The amount paid to publishers for each click on an advertisement which varies depending on the ads value and ads networks.

Cost Per 1000 Impression (CPM) – Cost paid by advertisers to ads networks for every 1000 impressions (mille) of their advertisement.

Pay Per 1000 Impression (PPM) – Amount received by publishers for every 1000 impressions of an advertisement.

Impression – Number of time an advertisement had been shown on a page.

Click Through Ratio (CTR) – Impressions divided by the number of clicks over a set time period.

Return On Investment (ROI) – The sales minus investment divided by the investment. Especially if you are both an advertiser and a publisher.

Pageview – Number of pages viewed in a blog or website. One visitor who view three pages will generate 3 pageview at a time.

Visits – Number of times anyone has viewed the site.

Unique visitors – Visitors from different IP addresses that are important for advertising.

*In most cases, ads networks use CPC and CPM for amount to be paid to publishers instead of PPC or PPM.

List of Advertising Networks You Can Easily Use:

Google Adsense – Keyword based PPC text ads network that also offers image ads. The text ads displayed on a page depends on the keywords available on that page while publishers can customize the ads categories. Minimum payout to publishers is USD100 and available through Western Union Money Transfer up to USD2999 or via check for amount more than USD2999.

BidVertiser – Similar to Google Adsense but offers lower minimum payout which makes it a better option if you want to be paid fast.
