My Articles were Stolen

My Articles were Stolen

What should I do if someone stole my blog articles exactly as I wrote them including the images and without giving any credits? That is totally plagiarism and I don’t like it. I had sent a message to the author of the blog who stole the article so I won’t reveal the accused yet. I’m going to check that blog again later and if there is still nothing changed I’m thinking of taking some actions about that.

The article are from my Catia V5 Tutorial blog and most of the articles took me up to 3 hours to complete. The blog is licensed with Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 License therefore anybody can use the articles as I wrote them as long as they give credits and stay within the limit of the license. I’m still thinking about what I should do if the thief don’t want to answer to my message. Taking legal actions would not be a suitable action because I would have to appoint a lawyer to make things right or worse.

I’d like to try a method quite similar to what my friend did when somebody copied his article. What my friend did was he uploaded a big photo of the accused copier including links to his blog in Facebook. A few days later my friend received a letter of apology and removal of his article from the copier blog. What else can we when somebody copied our article in such way? Of course nobody would want something like this to happen. Writing is not something that can be done in a blink and some people can just copy and paste as it is their own.

  1. It is of my opinion that you need to take some kind of action if the accused does not reply to your email. After all, right is right and wrong is wrong. It is an honor when someone else thinks enough of our posts to want to share them with their readers and they do this by giving credit or asking permission. It is yet another think when someone takes our hard work, uses it as if they were the writers. By all means take some kind of action because this person could be doing the same thing to others. They need to be STOPPED! Sorry it happened to you.

I’m curious, how did you find out about the other blog? Did you just stumble upon it, or did you look for it yourself, or did someone tell you?
